The mission of the Eel River Watershed Improvement Group (ERWIG) is to improve stream habitat conditions in the Eel River basin to benefit native stocks of salmon and steelhead.

ERWIG is a non-governmental, non-judgmental, non-regulatory, landowner-based organization with the technical skills to assist in watershed improvement projects. Our primary goal, is to provide organizational and technical assistance to landowners and managers to develop local watershed action plans and implement specific projects which will benefit salmon.

Watershed Stewards Project

AMERICORP's WATERSHED STEWARDS PROJECT

The mission of the AmeriCorps Watershed Stewards Project is to conserve, restore and enhance anadromous watersheds for future generations by linking education with high quality scientific practices.

In 1995, watershed assessments were limited to half the drainage basins in Humboldt and Del Norte Counties. Today, through landowner support for restoration, WSP members have been granted access to private land in three quarters of watersheds from the Oregon border to San Luis Obispo.

The Seventh Generation Fund is an Indigenous non-profit organization dedicated to promoting and maintaining the uniqueness of Native peoples throughout the Americas. We offer an integrated program of advocacy, small grants, training and technical assistance, media experience and fiscal management, lending our support and extensive expertise to Indigenous grassroots communities. Our organization derives its name from a precept of the Great Law of Peace of the Haudenosaunee (Six Nations Iroquois Confederacy) which mandates that chiefs consider the impact of their decisions on the seventh generation yet to come.

The Klamath-Siskiyou Wildlands Center was formed in 1997 as federal agencies ramped up logging in the Pacific Northwest. KS Wild fights for permanent protection of the incomparable ecological riches of southwest Oregon and northwest California, with a particular focus on the Rogue River, Siskiyou and Klamath National Forests, and the Medford and Coos Bay Districts of the Bureau of Land Management. We use environmental law, science, collaboration and education to defend healthy ecosystems and help build sustainable communities.

The Mattole Salmon Group was founded in 1980 by concerned community members who recognized that the native salmon population was dwindling rapidly. Since the Mattole Salmon Group was founded, it has evolved to include extensive habitat and species monitoring programs, large bank stabilization and habitat enhancement projects throughout the Mattole watershed, community outreach events and participation in environmental education projects, and a wide range of additional projects benefiting the watershed in cooperation with other local groups.
