Ziggy Marley - Saturday Sept. 24th - 10:30-12:00am
After two decades as the driving creative force behind the triple Grammy award winning group, The Melody Makers, Ziggy Marley stepped out on his own in 2003 with his first solo album, Dragonfly, a work of startling originality and musical diversity. With Dragonfly, Ziggy explored new ground and created his own distinctive musical identity as a solo artist that is a soulful mixture of blues, R&B, hip-hop and roots reggae. "Working on my own gave me a chance to take my time and experiment a lot," says Ziggy. With the release of his second solo album (2006), Love is My Religion, Ziggy took home the Grammy Award for "Best Reggae Album."
A five-time Grammy-winning musician, actor, artist, activist and humanitarian, Ziggy Marley has firmly established his presence on the public stage for over a quarter-century. Which is why, perhaps, there's a wisp of irony in naming his upcoming album Wild and Free, his fourth solo studio album and his most political and personal to date. Set for release on June 14th 2011, Wild and Free was produced with friend and collaborator Don Was at Ocean Way Studios in Hollywood, CA as well as Marley's own studio.
Embracing both the spiritual and emotional side of life, Ziggy has definitively come into his own as an artist.
